A South Carolina resident, 25 years old, claimed it was merely a “prank” when he lay in wait in his on-again, off-again girlfriend’s shower without pants or underwear, then confronted her wielding a knife.
Jackson Collum Arnold said it was just a surprise to “lighten the mood” since they had been arguing during the day via text messages, WCBD reported.
The incident report from the Charleston Police Department stated that Arnold trespassed into a separate garage apartment where the woman resided and concealed himself in the bathroom, donning a pair of her bike shorts on his face. She recounted to the police that he emerged brandishing a knife, prompting her to shove him away out of fear. Despite this, he forced her toward a door, menacingly swiping the knife near her neck without making contact.
Then, she said, he threw the knife on the floor and choked her with one hand.
“The victim succeeded in pulling the shorts off the unidentified man’s face; it was at this moment she recognized him as her ex-boyfriend, Jackson Arnold,” the police documentation revealed.
Arnold told his victim he was just pranking her and wanted to talk, but she ran out of the apartment into the main house, where she had a family member call 911.
Arnold was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Jail records say he’s being held without bond pending an initial court appearance on June 13.
