A man in Texas, donning a hockey mask akin to that of Jason from the “Friday the 13th” films, is accused of opening fire on a Dallas bus. The shooting, reportedly involving a Draco AK-47, left another man dead after being shot nine times.

The alleged shooter, Harrington Hurdle, aged 27, is charged with murder for the death of 43-year-old Norman Paul Brown III, which occurred on a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) bus. As per an arrest affidavit from local Fox station KDFW, surveillance footage captured Hurdle sporting the mask and clothing described as a green jacket, tan shorts, and black socks, as well as carrying a backpack.

Initially, Hurdle boarded one bus while wearing the mask, got off, and then sat at a platform. He later entered another bus, sitting beside Brown, where an argument reportedly ensued between the two men.

“The suspect then put the hockey mask back on, pulled a Draco-style AK-47, and then shot the victim,” the affidavit reportedly said.

The affidavit states that Hurdle allegedly fired nine rounds at Brown, and no other injuries were reported. It’s not confirmed whether the two men were acquainted prior to the incident. After police released images from the surveillance footage, officers located Hurdle on Tuesday. He was apprehended following a brief chase, with reports noting he possessed a backpack and an AK-47 resembling those in the video.

He is being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.

This incident follows another shooting on a DART bus just a week earlier, where a bartender, Daniel Gromley, was shot and killed on September 29. In that case, Christopher Akins was arrested and charged with murder.

A statement from the transit agency emphasized, “DART Police continues to maintain a visible presence across the system to ensure a safe transit environment for everyone,” as shared with Law&Crime.
