Emma Trillo and her partner were abruptly awakened by a commotion at their Ascot residence around 4:30 a.m. on September 10 of the previous year. This disturbance resulted in Trillo being struck by her own black BMW, leading to serious injuries including fractures to her hip, pelvis, and spine.
Today, all charges against 18-year-old Leo Angelo Matar, who was allegedly involved in the incident, have been dismissed.
During an earlier bail hearing, the court was informed that the prosecution’s case primarily depended on a small photograph that purportedly depicted Matar with two other teenagers on the day the alleged events took place.
The two 16-year-olds captured in the photograph still face charges related to the incident.
“The system has truly failed us in this situation,” Trillo expressed.
“While my bones have mended, I continue to struggle with soft tissue injuries and am still undergoing physical therapy,” she continued.
“Still to this day, we have trouble sleeping of an evening.”
Matar’s father David Sandford, said the family was relieved.
“We just want to get him recovered. We just wanna get him back on the track,” he said.
