A Texas father and his 17-year-old son are currently in custody, facing charges related to the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a burning vehicle last week.
Early Thursday morning, around 4 a.m., Harris County deputies responded to reports of a vehicle on fire. After extinguishing the blaze, they found a man’s body in the back seat, as reported by KRIV. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Juan Francisco Benitez, had been shot, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Investigations led authorities to arrest 44-year-old Ernesto Bustamante, who now faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence. Officials believe the altercation between Bustamante and Benitez occurred at Bustamante’s residence and tragically escalated to murder.
After the incident, Bustamante allegedly transported the body in a truck to a secluded area and set it ablaze.
Recently, Bustamante’s son, Santiago Bustamante, was also arrested. He faces charges of tampering with evidence involving a human corpse, as detailed by KHOU.
