In the early hours of the morning, Gainesville, Florida, became the backdrop for a dramatic altercation that led to the arrest of Dai-Janea Shaquan Wright, aged 32. Wright faces serious charges, including aggravated battery and felony property damage, after reportedly assaulting a man with a metal pipe and causing extensive damage to both a vehicle and an apartment window.

Officers from the Gainesville Police Department arrived at the scene at Sweetwater Square Apartments, located at 3501 NE 15th Street, around 12:45 a.m. on December 6. They discovered that a heated argument had escalated between Wright and the victim. During the confrontation, Wright allegedly seized a metal pipe and smashed the front and rear windows of the victim’s car.

As tensions flared, Wright is accused of hurling a shard of glass from the shattered windows at the victim. The situation intensified when she allegedly struck the victim with the metal pipe. However, the victim managed to wrest the pipe from Wright’s grasp. Unrelenting, Wright reportedly broke an apartment window where the victim was staying and threw a chair in his direction.

In a statement given post-Miranda, the victim recounted how Wright had been persistently knocking on the apartment door in an “aggressive” manner before she shattered the window. He explained that upon stepping outside, he witnessed Wright demolishing his car windows with the metal pipe. He noted that she assaulted him and threw glass shards, but he succeeded in disarming her of the pipe.

From Wright’s perspective, as shared post-Miranda, she acknowledged pounding on the apartment door and breaking the window. She claimed that after the victim emerged and reportedly “charged” at her, she fled, grabbed a metal pipe from the ground, and began damaging the vehicle. She further mentioned walking back towards the apartment, picking up a child’s chair, and throwing it at the victim.

Post Miranda, Wright reportedly admitted to banging on the door of the apartment and breaking the window. She said the victim came outside and “charged” at her, so she ran, picked up a metal pipe from the ground, and started breaking the windows of the victim’s car. She said that she walked back toward the apartment, picked up a child’s chair, and threw it at the victim.

A witness reportedly told an officer he saw Wright and the victim fighting, and it looked like they were fighting over a metal pipe. He said it looked to him like Wright started to walk away, but then the victim said something to her, and she started fighting with the victim again.

The officer reported that the victim had injuries in the shoulder area that were bleeding, along with a small laceration on his arm. Wright reportedly had injuries to her fingers that were bleeding.

The officer estimated the damage to the car and the window at about $2,000.

Wright was treated at an emergency room before being transported to the jail.

Wright has been charged with aggravated battery and felony property damage. She has no local criminal convictions, and Judge David Kreider set bail at $15,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
