GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Moses Emanuel Bryant II, 39, was taken into custody early this morning on a warrant accusing him of climbing through a window and stealing cash from an apartment at Sweetwater Square in April.
According to a Gainesville Police Department officer, the victim discovered on the morning of April 7 that about $2,000 in cash had been taken from his bedroom closet at Sweetwater Square, located at 3101 NE 15th Street. The victim told police he had left his bedroom window cracked open around midnight to cool the apartment before stepping outside to talk with neighbors. He said he returned inside at about 2:20 a.m.
The officer reported that surveillance footage from the apartment complex showed two people lingering behind the victim’s apartment. One of them, later identified as Bryant, is allegedly seen pushing open the rear window and climbing inside. A few minutes later, police said, Bryant left the apartment and drove away.
The victim reportedly identified Bryant as a neighbor’s boyfriend and also recognized his truck, which was captured in the surveillance video.
An arrest warrant for Bryant was issued on April 27. He was arrested on August 21.
Bryant has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and grand theft. Court records list nine felony convictions, including two violent felonies, and 14 misdemeanor convictions, including four violent misdemeanors. He has served five state prison sentences, with his most recent release in February 2026. Judge Joy Danne set his bail at $200,000.
