GAINESVILLE, Fla. – An 18-year-old named Javion Amari Moore faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following allegations that he brandished a firearm at another individual inside an apartment complex.
Authorities from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Legacy at Fort Clarke, located at 1505 Fort Clarke Boulevard, around 4:47 p.m. on April 26. The incident reportedly began with a physical altercation between Moore and the victim within the apartment. According to the victim, Moore retrieved a handgun from his bedroom during the scuffle and allegedly aimed it at him, threatening, “You think I won’t do it,” which left the victim fearing for his safety. Moore then reportedly tucked the gun into his waistband and exited the apartment.
One witness confirmed the victim’s story, while another observed Moore retrieving a firearm from a yellow shoebox in his bedroom.
Deputies managed to locate Moore in the apartment complex parking lot and took him into custody; however, they did not recover any weapon during the arrest.
Following a Miranda warning, Moore first claimed he had picked up a knife from the kitchen during the fight but dropped it right away. He later altered his account, denying ever handling a knife and insisting no firearm was involved. When questioned about wielding a gun, Moore allegedly stated, “I never pointed it at him,” before reiterating his claim that he never possessed a gun during the incident.
Moore has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has an unspecified juvenile conviction from 2024 but no adult criminal history. Judge George Wright ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
