GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Candice Renee Collier, 40, was taken into custody yesterday after authorities say she drove a vehicle toward a neighbor during a disagreement about parking.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to Holly Heights at about 11:10 a.m. on June 30. According to the victim, she had asked Collier to move one of multiple vehicles Collier reportedly had parked in the area so she could park her own vehicle; the victim also said at least one of Collier’s vehicles was not operable.
The victim told the deputy the parking dispute escalated into an argument. She said Collier then got into a gray SUV, backed out of the grassy area where it had been parked, and drove forward while turning right, heading directly toward her. The victim said she had to jump aside to avoid being struck.
The responding deputy reported that the incident was recorded on doorbell camera video.
After being read her Miranda rights, Collier reportedly told the deputy she drove toward the victim in self-defense because the victim had threatened to beat her up.
Collier was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no criminal convictions, although prior charges of aggravated stalking in 2021, hit and run in 2021, and battery in 2024 were dropped. Collier posted $5,000 bail before appearing at a First Appearance hearing.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
