A 55-year-old man has been taken into custody following a search of his residence in Macquarie Fields by federal police.
Authorities reportedly confiscated three gel blasters, three slingshot mounts, and a pair of metal handcuffs during the operation.
Additionally, three electronic devices were seized for further investigation.
The man is accused of making several threatening phone calls to the office of Chalmers earlier this month.
He now faces charges related to making death threats and weapons offenses.
“The AFP supports freedom of speech and political expression, but criminal behavior and threats to kill will never be tolerated,” said AFP Detective Superintendent Jeremy Staunton.
“Hiding behind a keyboard or phone does not mean you are anonymous and out of the AFP’s reach â we have the resources and technology to find you and bring you before the courts.”
