A 17-year-old Wisconsin teenager accused of attacking his mother with a 2-foot-long hedge trimmer after becoming angry that she had “deleted rap videos off of his YouTube” will remain in adult court, a judge ruled this week.
Ramone Waupoose allegedly cut his mother across the face, head, arms and back inside their home in July 2025. Online court records show he faces charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon and first-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon.
In Wisconsin, children ages 10 to 16 are automatically prosecuted in adult court when accused of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
“I feel my son will get the best treatment in juvenile court,” his mother, who was allegedly attacked, told the judge during a Tuesday hearing, according to local Fox affiliate WLUK.
Prosecutors argued that treatment options capable of addressing Waupoose’s needs are available through the adult court system. The judge ruled that the treatment he would receive in juvenile court would be “inadequate” given the severity of the alleged attack and his circumstances, WLUK reported.
A criminal complaint obtained by the local outlet says Waupoose’s mother told police she had become “freaked out” by her son’s behavior before the alleged attack at their Suamico home.
According to prosecutors, Waupoose attacked his mother after authorities brought him home from running away two days earlier. The woman allegedly told police that Ramone was “super uber uber p—ed” about being taken back.
She also said he was angry because she had “deleted rap videos off of his YouTube,” according to the complaint.
Waupoose’s mother told investigators that his conduct grew increasingly troubling and that he began acting aggressively toward her.
“Ramone went back to his room and I again texted him about going to eat and asked if he was going to come. He replied back ‘no,’” she allegedly told police. “I told him to not leave the house and I monitored him through the cameras.”
The following day, she said, Waupoose appeared “creepier” and more suspicious. “When he ate he was pacing like a caged tiger,” she told police, adding that she began collecting knives, sharp kitchen utensils and other potentially dangerous objects. She also locked a drill and other tools inside her vehicle, according to the complaint.
“I watched the cameras and saw Ramone go to the garage and was searching for something,” Waupoose’s mother allegedly said. “He was looking around the toolbox and a mattress that was leaned up next to it. His whole behavior really freaked me out. The shears he found must have been behind the mattress.”
Waupoose allegedly used the 2-foot-long pruning shears to attack his mother. Investigating officers reportedly found blood near the tool. The complaint states that he turned off the home’s electricity and lured his mother to an electrical box before the attack. She escaped with her 12-year-old son, Waupoose’s brother, by running from the house and driving away.
Prosecutors also allege that messages found on Waupoose’s phone referenced killing his former girlfriend and included plans to send a video of himself killing his mother and brother.
Waupoose is scheduled to return to court Oct. 27 for a status conference.
