In Kentucky, a couple is facing charges of reckless homicide and additional offenses over a year after they initially reported a miscarriage.
When Charles and Deeann Bennett visited the hospital, they informed authorities that the deceased infant was still at their residence in Booneville, according to Kentucky State Police. Officers responding to the scene discovered the child’s body discarded over an embankment outside their home.
Deeann Bennett, aged 27, faces charges of reckless homicide, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and concealing a birth. Her husband, 32, is charged with reckless homicide and concealing a birth.
The case unfolded on November 29, 2024, when investigators learned that Deeann Bennett had arrived at the hospital claiming a miscarriage. The infant was located, declared deceased, and the remains were sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
The autopsy findings have not been disclosed by state police.
On January 22, indictments were issued, leading to the Bennetts’ arrest on February 9. Currently held without bail at the Three Forks Jail, they are scheduled to appear in court on March 2, as reported by Law&Crime.
