A Florida man allegedly killed his mother in a stabbing at their Delray Beach home, authorities said, only hours after he shared a video online discussing forgiveness.

Alexander Harrington, 50, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of his 77-year-old mother. The victim was identified by local CBS affiliate WPEC as Susan Baratto.

According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, Harrington called police at about 2 p.m. Friday and reported that he had killed his mother. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the residence and found him outside.

Inside, deputies discovered Baratto in the living room with numerous stab wounds and blood covering her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was reportedly found on the floor beside her.

Harrington had also suffered a cut to his left arm. While paramedics treated the injury, they asked him to explain what had happened.

“I killed my mom,” he allegedly told them.

Investigators later brought Harrington in for questioning. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he allegedly acknowledged stabbing Baratto and contacting law enforcement afterward.

The arrest affidavit does not outline a suspected motive or explain what preceded the fatal confrontation. Harrington allegedly told investigators that he had been sober since 2007 and had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder.

On his Facebook page, Harrington presents himself as a life coach and “intuitive healer.” In a video posted the day before the alleged killing, he referred to himself as “one of Christ’s white knights” and spoke at length about letting go of past grievances.

“We have to forgive people from our past,” he said in the video. He added that refusing to open one’s heart to healing could lead to repeating the same mistakes and prevent happiness. Harrington also said he had written down the names of everyone who had hurt him and forgiven them.

Harrington remains held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 5.
