A Florida man is accused of stabbing another man in the arm after the victim declined to hand over money, then offering police a confusing account of what allegedly happened.

Michael Jason Knight, 49, has been charged with attempted murder. A probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime says deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office were called at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to the 26000 block of SW 135 Ave. in Miami after a report of a man who was “bleeding and appeared dead.”

When deputies reached the Twin Lakes condominium complex, they found the victim on the ground near the home’s front door with a stab wound and “bleeding profusely,” according to the affidavit.

Investigators said they recovered a knife on the ground beside the victim, near a pool of blood. Emergency medical crews transported him to a hospital, where he was most recently listed in critical but stable condition.

The victim told deputies that Knight was the person who attacked him, authorities said. According to the victim’s account, Knight came to the front door and asked for money. After the victim refused, Knight allegedly became angry, pulled out a knife and cut him in the arm.

Another person inside the residence managed to take the knife away from Knight and then called 911, the affidavit states. The document did not specify what relationship, if any, existed between Knight and the victim.

While investigators were on scene, Knight allegedly blurted out “we were just kissing.” Officials took Knight to the police station for an interview. In the interview room, he allegedly urinated on the table and floor. He then became “uncooperative,” cops said.

He was taken to the Miami-Dade County Jail, where he remains without bond. His next court date was not listed.

Local ABC affiliate WPLG first reported on Knight’s arrest.
