A Georgia mother has been arrested on serious charges related to the death of her young son, just days after she launched a GoFundMe campaign purportedly to help her family financially recover. The campaign, titled to garner support, was initiated before her arrest on charges including involuntary manslaughter.

According to jail records, 29-year-old Raven Louise Broniecki is charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree child cruelty involving negligence leading to severe physical or mental pain, and reckless conduct. Authorities apprehended her on Monday in Hinesville, a town roughly 50 miles southwest of Savannah.

Details regarding the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death and the subsequent charges against Broniecki have not been extensively disclosed by law enforcement. However, local CBS affiliate WTOC reported that Broniecki set up a GoFundMe account a few days prior to her arrest, citing financial strain. In the campaign, she identified her deceased son as Keith Richard.

Within the GoFundMe description, Broniecki expressed her grief and financial distress, stating, “My sweet baby boy, my best friend, my whole world has recently passed away. I am trying to raise the funds for bills. We spent all our funds on funeral and urns and other things for our baby boy and we now are left with a hefty amount of bills and just need some help to get back on our feet. We are very stressed and heartbroken. Still have 6 children to raise and we are trying our best.”

The fundraising page has since been removed, though the reasons behind its removal remain unknown.

The GoFundMe has since been taken down. It’s unclear why.

Records state that Broniecki spent just one day in jail after posting a $22,300 bond.

The Hinesville Police Department did not immediately return a message from Law&Crime seeking comment.
