A Kentucky woman allegedly told several people that she intended to kill her younger sister by setting her bed on fire while she slept.

Addison Brown, 22, faces charges following her arrest by Louisville police after an inquiry into a fire she is accused of deliberately starting. A warrant reviewed by Law&Crime indicates that Brown allegedly set a mattress on fire while her younger sister was asleep on it. The incident, which occurred on June 1, was investigated by arson experts who reportedly uncovered compromising text messages sent by Brown afterwards.

The search warrant states that Brown fled soon after the fire was ignited, which fortunately did not cause any injuries. Brown’s sister, whose identity Law&Crime has withheld, reportedly “awoke to flames beside her” and managed to extinguish the fire using a pillow. Assistance was called, and by the time emergency services arrived, the fire had been put out.

Besides Brown’s sister, there were three other individuals in the residence, although their connections to Brown and her sister were not specified in the warrant.

Authorities claim Brown sent text messages to “several individuals,” allegedly admitting she set the fire deliberately “in an attempt to kill” her sister. It is reported that Brown’s sister was among the recipients of these texts.

According to the warrant, Brown allegedly caused more than $500 worth of damage to the home.

Brown was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Friday, marking her first court appearance. She was placed in Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections, facing charges of attempted murder, arson, and wanton endangerment. Her arraignment is set for Sept. 22.
