A man in Florida is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly stabbing a well-known hairstylist to death while she was in a parking garage, waiting for a friend.
As noted in an arrest report examined by Law&Crime, authorities responded to an emergency call in the early hours of May 28. A man reported that he had been stabbed in the neck at a residential area in Sunrise. Upon arrival, officers discovered the caller and the lifeless body of his 27-year-old friend, Hailey Hosford, who was declared dead at the location.
After reviewing surveillance video and speaking to witnesses, police apprehended Jackson Sagesse, 21, at the home of his mother. The arrest report stated that he reportedly told police after he was read his rights, “I just killed someone and walked away.”

The arrest report detailed a haunting timeline of events beginning with the black sedan that carried Hosford and an unnamed male friend as they entered the parking garage at the Retreat apartment building. Approximately one minute after the car parked and the male friend left, Sagesse was seen entering the frame and approaching the car.
Police said that Sagesse could be seen carrying “a metallic object … in his right hand, reflecting light.” He reportedly walked alongside the passenger side of the car before leaving the frame.
One minute after that, Hosford was seen opening the door of the back seat on the passenger side before spotting Sagesse, who came back around the car from the driver’s side. According to police, she “quickly re-enter[ed] the vehicle in an apparent attempt to hide.”
Sagesse then allegedly forced the door back open and attacked Hosford. Police wrote that a “stabbing motion [was] visible on video.”
According to the arrest report, the friend returned, and a physical altercation between him and Sagesse ensued. The friend was allegedly stabbed by Sagesse, but was able to run away to call for help. Sagesse then went to the driver’s side of the car and sat in the seat, started the car, but ultimately was not able to move it. He got out of the car and “appear[ed] to search the ground for potential evidence.”
An employee at the Retreat that provided the video to police recognized Sagesse and identified him to police, providing his home address a few doors away. Police went to the home, where Sagesse was allegedly wearing the same clothes he was seen wearing in the surveillance video. A knife found in his pocket allegedly appeared to come from the same kitchen knife set as one found at the scene. Investigators allegedly found that a knife block in the kitchen at Sagesse’s home was missing two steak knives.
Sagesse was taken into custody without incident. After he was read his Miranda rights, he allegedly told police, “I just killed someone and walked away.” He reportedly attempted to claim he acted in self-defense, but police said he never stated what made him feel threatened.
The male victim was hospitalized for his injuries, but his current condition is unknown.
Hosford was a well-known hair stylist in the area. In a statement to local NBC affiliate WTVJ, Hosford’s stepfather said, “Our family is destroyed. This is beyond horrific. We wish this upon no family to deal with something like this.”
Sagesse was arrested for premeditated murder and attempted murder. He is being held at the Broward County Jail without bond.
