In the early hours of the morning, police were dispatched to a residence on Rowanda Street in Slacks Creek, Logan, following reports of gunshots at around 1:14 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 41-year-old man from Slacks Creek suffering from severe injuries. He was urgently transported to the hospital, where his condition was deemed critical.
Tragically, despite medical efforts, the man was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have since intensified their presence in the area as they search for several individuals who were reportedly at the scene during the shooting but left before emergency responders arrived.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that this was a targeted attack, and they have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The deceased was known to law enforcement officials.
“There are guns in the community, that’s something that I can’t control, but what I can tell the members of the public in Queensland is that any matter that involves a firearm or any information that we receive in relation to illegal firearms we obviously take seriously and investigate,” Detective Acting Inspector Jason Kitto said.
This is the second shooting in Logan in just two days.
A 35-year-old man was shot and killed at a park in Beenleigh on Tuesday – just 10km away.
