Chad Ollinger: Former Discovery Channel Reality Star Charged with Open Murder

Chad Ollinger, a former reality television personality, is facing allegations of murdering his cellmate in a Nevada prison. Ollinger, renowned for his appearance on Discovery’s “Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch,” purportedly claimed he possessed the extraordinary ability to read minds.

Ollinger, 41, stands accused of the December 26 killing of 42-year-old Christopher Kelly, as reported by 3 News. Following the tragic incident, Ollinger allegedly informed investigators that his supernatural powers enabled him to identify pedophiles. However, authorities have found no evidence linking Kelly to any child predation activities.

As detailed by CrimeOnline, Ollinger was charged with open murder after officials at the Clark County Detention Center discovered Kelly unresponsive in his cell, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

“Officers entered the cell and noticed the inmate was suffering from apparent blunt force injuries,” a press release from the Vegas police noted.

Further investigations revealed that a confrontation had occurred between Ollinger and his cellmate, resulting in the tragic outcome.

Investigators later discovered that Ollinger and a cellmate got into an altercation.

Ollinger confessed to choking Kelly and hitting his head against a metal bed frame post. He then put a blanket over Kelly and left his body on the bottom bunk, 8 News Now reports.

Police said Ollinger stated, “I wanted to feel his [expletive] piece of shit dead body beneath me.”

“If I know something about somebody that’s bad, I take care of it.”

Ollinger allegedly said the killing had “necessary” and told authorities, “good luck cracking the case,” as they took photographs of Kelly’s injuries.

At the time of Kelly’s murder, Ollinger had been at the Clark County Detention Center for an October 2025 arrest on a contempt of court charge. He remained in jail after it was discovered he had been wanted on a fugitive from another state charge.

Ollinger’s competency hearing is scheduled for January 21.
