A 44-year-old woman from Parkdale experienced a terrifying ordeal early in the morning while she sat in her car on Chandler Road, Keysborough. At approximately 6 a.m., she was suddenly ambushed from behind by a knife-wielding assailant.
The attacker forcefully pulled her from the driver’s seat, dragging her out of the vehicle despite her attempts to resist. In a courageous effort to assist, a passerby attempted to intervene in the assault. However, he was quickly confronted by a second individual, also brandishing a knife, who threatened him.
The two attackers then fled the scene, making off with the woman’s car. The incident left witnesses in shock, not only due to the rapid succession of events but also because of the violent nature of the attack.
“That poor girl was absolutely traumatized,” recounted Linda Widdup, one of the eyewitnesses who observed the chaotic scene unfold.
Witnesses said they were shocked by the speed and intensity of the incident.
“That poor girl was absolutely traumatised,” Linda Widdup said.
“Luckily, there was a young fella up the road, only a little but further up that heard her screaming, and he came running down.”
The ordeal lasted less than a minute, but detectives are now trying to piece together exactly what happened, and where the thieves might have gone.
Neither the woman nor the Good Samaritan received any physical injuries, but the victim was shaken up by the experience.
“This poor girl’s just gone to do some laundry, and look what’s happened,” Widdup said.
