Tallahassee Man Accused of Targeting Publix Staff Cars, ATMs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 37-year-old Tallahassee man, identified as Trevor Kerone McAdam, was arrested Friday night after police say he attempted to steal a motorcycle and a moped belonging to Publix employees and tried to tamper with two ATM machines.

Gainesville Police Department officers were called to the Publix at 1302 N. Main Street around 10:43 p.m. on July 18. According to the store manager, surveillance footage showed a man attempting to take two employee-owned vehicles and trying to open panels on two ATMs. The manager told police he confronted the man, who then ran from the area on foot.

Officers soon located a man matching the description given by the manager. When they asked why he was in the area, the man reportedly said he was trying to get into an ATM despite not having a bank card. Police said he then attempted to walk away, and officers detained him in handcuffs.

After reviewing the Publix security footage, an officer reported seeing the same individual attempt to access two locked vehicles and manipulate the panels on two separate ATM machines before the store manager intervened.

Police said McAdam gave officers a fake name and an incorrect Social Security number. He was later identified at the jail through fingerprint records.

McAdam, listed as a Tallahassee resident, is facing two counts of burglary of an occupied structure, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, and one count of providing false identification information to a law enforcement officer. While his complete criminal history was not immediately available, records show he has two felony convictions in Leon County, including burglary and property damage, as well as six misdemeanor convictions. Judge Phillip Pena set his bail at $52,000.

Reports on arrests are based on information provided by law enforcement agencies. The charges cited come from arrest reports and/or court records and remain allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
