A Texas woman, aged 31, now faces murder charges following an extensive nine-month investigation into the death of her husband.

Initially, the death of Lonnie Moore appeared to be a suicide, as per the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. However, detectives embarked on a detailed investigation, uncovering evidence that challenged the original conclusion of a self-inflicted injury.

The 33-year-old was discovered on June 15, 2025, in a vehicle parked by the roadside, the engine still running, and he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Through their investigation, authorities identified Breyanai Moore as a suspect in the case. She was apprehended last week and is currently held without bond.

Court documents reveal that the Moores had been separated for two years and shared custody of a 5-year-old daughter, as reported by KTRK. Breyanai claimed she spent the night at home with her daughter and informed her husband via text of her intention to file for divorce.

However, surveillance footage showed a woman resembling Breyanai near her husband’s neighborhood entrance that morning. Additionally, phone records indicated several calls between Lonnie’s phone and a prepaid phone, which had been purchased by one of Breyanai Moore’s friends.

The friend reportedly told investigators that Moore had admitted using the phone to lure her husband into picking her up. She said she climbed into the back seat behind him and shot him when he tried to grab something away from her.

Breyanai Moore’s mother later identified the woman in the neighborhood video as her daughter. The mother also told investigators that her daughter hated her husband and often wished him harm. After his death, she lost weight and cried frequently, the mother said.
