An Illinois man has been taken into custody this week, accused of the murder of his 2-month-old son, stemming from an incident that occurred several months ago.

According to WLS, the mother of Kayson Flowers recounted that her son was under the care of another person for a week. The child was returned to her in a stroller, with the caretaker claiming he was asleep. However, upon inspection, the mother discovered her baby was unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed the infant had passed away six to eight hours prior.

Reports indicate that the boy’s father, 23-year-old Anthony Evans, was the one who returned the child, casually mentioning that the baby had been sleeping for an unusually long time.

An autopsy later revealed that the baby, Flowers, had multiple injuries indicative of abuse, including a brain hemorrhage. His death, which took place on April 28, was subsequently classified as a homicide.

During a court session on Thursday, Cook County prosecutors alleged that Evans confessed to killing his son, claiming he was compelled by a demon. Additionally, CBS reported that Evans had previously pressured Flowers’ mother to terminate the pregnancy when he discovered she was expecting.

In a disturbing revelation, it was also reported that shortly after the birth of Flowers, his mother was hospitalized due to injuries sustained from Evans, who allegedly punched her in the stomach.

Evans, arrested on Monday, is now charged with murder. He is due back in court next month.

“I want justice for my son,” Flowers’ mother told WLS. “I’m not going to rest until I get justice.”
