An altercation at a Virginia gas station late one night turned deadly when a man was fatally stabbed near the fuel pumps, according to local authorities.
Michael Orlando Dickey, aged 42, faces a manslaughter charge after being apprehended by the Prince William County Police Department. He is currently held without the option of bail.
The victim has been identified by Washington, D.C.’s ABC affiliate, WJLA, as 20-year-old Jonathan David Ferreyra Agapito.
Police reports indicate that the incident took place around midnight on Sunday at a Shell gas station located at 17250 Dumfries Road in Dumfries, Virginia, which is approximately 30 miles southwest of Washington, D.C.
Authorities stated that Agapito engaged in a physical confrontation with Dickey, who was working at the gas station. During the struggle, Dickey allegedly brandished a knife and inflicted a fatal stab wound to Agapito’s upper body.
Agapito reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness following the stabbing. Responding officers arrived after receiving reports of the incident and discovered the victim near the gas pumps, suffering from a stab wound.
Though medics arrived, too, Agapito was pronounced dead.
Dickey was taken into custody and then arrested. Police stressed that the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the incident should contact them. They did not indicate what may have led to the fight between the two men.
A court date for the defendant has not yet been announced.
