Three men have been charged following a daring robbery involving stolen vehicles in Melbourne’s south-east overnight.
In the early hours of the morning, police responded to a call at around 1:30 a.m. regarding an incident on Cardamon Drive in Hallam. Reports indicated that several unidentified individuals had broken into a home’s garage.
The suspects allegedly made off with gardening equipment from the garage before escaping in a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser.
Not long after, authorities spotted the stolen vehicle traveling in a convoy on the Monash Freeway. It was seen alongside another stolen car, a Toyota 86, as they moved through the Springvale and Noble Park areas.
Investigations revealed that the Land Cruiser had been taken from Caulfield North on Friday, while the Toyota 86 was reportedly stolen from Malvern East on October 11.
The chase concluded on Norris Road in Dandenong North, where the suspects abandoned the vehicles and attempted to flee on foot. However, police quickly apprehended them.
The two cars eventually stopped on Norris Dandenong North, where the occupants fled on foot, however they were arrested shortly after.
A laser-printed firearm was found inside the Land Cruiser.
As a result, a 33-year-old Doveton man was charged with attempted aggravated burglary, burglary, theft from a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, possessing a category e handgun, possessing a prohibited weapon, negligently dealing with proceeds of crime and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
He was remanded to appear today at Melbourne Magistrates Court.
A 34-year-old Hampton Park has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal.
He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 4 March 2026.
