The search for an “armed and dangerous” woman who allegedly murdered her husband came to a bloody, self-inflicted end on Tuesday. Analiesa Golde, 55, apparently died by suicide, said police in Portland, Oregon.
Authorities previously said that they had reason to believe she was in the area of southwest Washington, in particular around Toutle or Mount St. Helens. These are pretty much directly north of Portland, with drives estimated between one and two hours. Investigators, however, finally tracked her down further west in the small Pacific coast city of Long Beach, Washington. She was found dead Tuesday.
“It appears Golde died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” they wrote. “Her vehicle has been recovered by law enforcement.”
With the suspect dead, investigators continue their investigation into what happened when she killed her husband, Phillip E. Pierce, 37, in Portland.
Officers said they had been dispatched at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Jan. 26 regarding a report of Pierce missing in the 9300 block of Southeast Sun Crest Drive.
“After an extensive effort to locate him, officers developed information that the man may be inside the locked and secured home,” they wrote. “They forced entry and searched the home to do a welfare check. Inside, they found the man deceased.”
The medical examiner determined he died from a gunshot wound and called the death a homicide.
Neighbors reportedly described Pierce as friendly.
“I would see him in his garage working and we would stop and talk,” a neighbor identified only as “Harold R.” told Portland Fox affiliate KPTV. “He’s always been very calm, very collected.”
“He laughed big, he loved big,” Pierce’s mother, Stacy Pierce, told Portland CBS affiliate KOIN in a Sunday report. “He’s loved by a lot of folks. A lot of people are missing him right now.”
Speaking to the outlet during the search for Golde, she warned that her daughter-in-law had an AR-15 and “enough ammunition to do a lot of damage.”
Pierce told the outlet that she last saw her in September, but the suspect was “a really different person” that than in the past.
“She had her yoga pants with a great big pistol stuffed in the side and she was pacing the house,” she said. “And Phil was kind of on edge, which made the whole household on edge. The dogs were upset. It was weird. So be careful of her.”
