Lee Nicholls – Went the right way on Elijah Adebayo’s penalty, which went out off the post anyway. Dealt well with what he needed to come for. 7

Tom Lees – Moved out to the right of the back three with Matty Pearson injured. Really good, solid performance. 8

Jonathan Hogg – Dropped into the back line off the ball and had a really good game defensively. Decent and tidy on the ball. 9

Levi Colwill – Perhaps a tad casual on the ball at times but got away with it and defended well. 8

Pipa – Had some sublime moments, including a delicious dink into the six yard. Smart throw to Jon Russell to assist the goal. Did his job defensively. 7

Jon Russell – Kept his composure as we’ve come to expect and looked happier playing further forward than against Hull. Scored absolute wondergoal to put Town ahead. 8

Lewis O’Brien – Had a rare mixed bag of a game, wasting a good early chance and putting a couple of simple balls astray but also helping build other attacks. 6

Harry Toffolo – Not able to play as adventurously as usual as Town looked for quicker transitions up his flank, but did his job well at the back. 7

Danel Sinani – Marked out of the game out on the right wing over the first hour and struggled to make an impact. Harshly whistled for the foul that produced Luton’s missed penalty. 5

Danny Ward – Pressed superbly but also committed a couple of silly avoidable fouls inside the Town half. No real chances to speak of. and didn’t have the best second half. 6

Sorba Thomas – Offered a good outlet up the left straight from the very first minute that Town looked to find repeatedly. Swapped with Sinani after Russell’s goal and was curiously less effective on the right. Great ball for Naby Sarr’s goal. 7

Duane Holmes (for Sinani 77) – Offered fresh legs in the final third in the closing stages. Excellent ball for Thomas and should have been given the return pass to make it 3-0. 7

Naby Sarr (for Ward 84) – Brought on to offer extra defensive solidity and ended up scoring the second goal with a simple header. 7

Jordan Rhodes (for Thomas 90+3) – n/a

Subs not used: Jamal Blackman, Ollie Turton, Carel Eiting, Josh Koroma.
