Katy Perry has responded firmly to allegations made by Ruby Rose, dismissing them as “dangerous and reckless lies.” The accusations involve an alleged incident of sexual assault by Perry, which Ruby Rose claims occurred when she was in her twenties at a nightclub in Melbourne.

Ruby Rose, now 40, took to social media to share her account, asserting it took nearly two decades for her to speak out publicly about the incident. She made these claims in a post on the social media platform Threads, stating, “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks.”

In response, a spokesperson for Katy Perry issued a statement to the Daily Mail, firmly denying the accusations. “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” the statement asserted.

The representative further noted Ruby Rose’s history of publicly making serious allegations on social media against various individuals, which have repeatedly been denied by those involved. This context is crucial in assessing the weight of the current claims.

‘Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.’

Making the allegations in a post shared to Threads, Ruby wrote: ‘Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks.’

She added: ‘I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly.

‘Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.’

It is not the first time the Australian actress has criticised Katy in public. She described the singer’s track Swish Swish as ‘purposeful poop’ in 2017.

However, Ruby backtracked on the comments just days later, writing on X: ‘Being mean doesn’t suit me and leaves me feeling dirty.

‘Truth is being mean leaves more leaks in your camp than the titanic and I get so triggered when I think bullies don’t get held accountable and it makes me think I should say something… but it’s not [my] place.’

While Katy was previously considered one of the world’s biggest popstars, she has seemingly been on a downward spiral and her latest music has failed to revive her career.

Last year she drew criticism for taking part in the Blue Origin space flight, alongside Jeff Bezos’s wife Lauren Sanchez, with one PR expert even suggesting the singer could face ‘career extinction’.

Once the furore of her space mission died down, Katy suffered heartbreak in her personal life as she split from her fiancé Orlando Bloom.

Despite the personal turmoil, she has since performed across five continents on her Lifetimes Tour and is now dating former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.

Last year, it was also revealed she is seeking almost $5million (£3.68million) in a lawsuit against the disabled veteran who owned a $15million (£11million) Montecito, California, home she purchased more than five years ago.

The star bought the property from Carl Westcott in 2020 but within days the businessman, who founded 1-800-Flowers, tried to back out of the deal claiming he was incapacitated due to painkillers when he signed the paperwork.

His backtracking sparked a legal battle over the sale of the property, with the judge ruling in Katy’s favour.

And now the singer has asked the court to force Westcott to pay $4,718,698.95 to account for damages she says he caused with extended litigation over the real estate sale.

Ruby first rose to fame after she starred in Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, before appearing in The CW Network’s Batwoman for just one season.

The actress claimed she was subject to bad working conditions on the show, and said that former Warner Bros Television chairman Peter Roth ‘forced’ her back to work after surgery from a neck injury and hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on her.

Ruby also hit out at Sydney Sweeney in September, blaming her for the disastrous box office debut of women’s boxing biopic Christy.

She also hit out at the Euphoria actress’s Republican views, which made her a target for Left-leaning stars.

In her online tirade Ruby said she was originally set to star as Christy, who was eventually played by Sydney, who she calls ‘Cherry’ in the message.

She went on to say that the original line-up was nearly entirely queer, before claiming Sydney ‘hates gay people’.
