Eight contestants remain on this season of American Idol, and the second half of this week’s doubleheader airs tonight.
Last night, the Top 10 contestants were narrowed down to the Top 8 during Ladies Night, where all performers showcased songs by legendary women in music. Tonight, the Top 8 will have the challenge of performing songs selected in secret for them by one of the three judges of Idol: Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood. Additionally, Jelly Roll will make an appearance as the “artist in residence” tonight.
At the conclusion of the evening, the Top 6 contestants will be announced, but a special judges’ save will be in effect, allowing the panel of judges to rescue one of the two eliminated singers. As a result, there will be a Top 7 proceeding into the following weekend.
