A Maryland woman is scheduled to face trial after authorities say she displayed a handgun during a dispute with workers at a local Taco Bell.
Ashley Andrews, 30, of Chester, Md., is facing charges including second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a handgun on her person and disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct, according to online court records reviewed by Oxygen.
The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff said deputies were called to the fast food restaurant on June 18 following a report that a woman had shown a weapon during an argument inside the business. When deputies arrived, officials said employees identified Andrews as the suspect, and a loaded handgun was recovered from her.
“Staff advised Andrews had become upset over her wait time for her food and during a verbal argument told staff members to meet her outside in the parking lot,” the sheriff’s office said in its release. “She then lifted her shirt to show her gun and used threatening language towards them.”
Investigators said deputies later examined surveillance footage and cellphone video from the encounter. The video allegedly showed Andrews “lifting her shirt to display a handgun and placing her hand on the grip of the gun while arguing with staff,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Andrews was arrested and was released the next day after posting $5,000 bail, court records indicate.
Court docket information shows Andrews is represented by a public defender, who has submitted a motion requesting a speedy trial. Her trial is currently scheduled for July 23.
Oxygen contacted the Queen Anne’s County Public Defender’s Office seeking comment, but no immediate response was received.
