Brain fog – the feeling of slow, fuzzy thoughts – is a very “common problem” post-Covid, Dr Amen said on his Instagram video.

Dr Amen said he “absolutely wouldn’t wait it out”, recommending “brain-healthy habits” and adding anti-inflammatory supplements to your diet.

The top three supplements Dr Amen recommended were curcumin, quercetin, and omega-3 fatty acids.

“I think it can be incredibly helpful,” Dr Amen shared with millions of people online.

Speaking about his own brain-healthy habits in another video, Dr Amen stated that he prioritises eight hours of sleep nightly.

“I put blue-light blockers on any gadget that I would use after sundown,” he said, then “I’m like, it’s 10 o’clock, I’m going to bed”.

Dr Amen revealed: “When I go to bed, I have a routine. I say a prayer, and then I go, ‘What went well today?'”

The psychiatrist explained: “I am putting myself to sleep, reviewing my day from a positive viewpoint.”

He emphasised: “What went well today? I am looking for micro-moments of happiness.”

Then when he wakes up in the morning and his feet touch the floor, he tells himself: “Today is going to be a great day.”

Dr Amen says these measures help to train the brain to focus on the positives.

The brain specialist is also a fan of intermittent fasting throughout the day, starting each morning with a protein shake with a cup of strawberries or blueberries.

“I take my supplements, and then I’m [set] for the day,” beamed Dr Amen.

On his website, Amen Clinics, there are other factors that can contribute to brain fog, aside from Covid.

Causes of brain fog can include obesity, stress, hormonal imbalances, food allergies, and inflammation.

No matter the cause, by adhering to brain-healthy habits and anti-inflammatory supplements, you can help lift brain fog.
