Beaufort Memorial Hospital receives national recognitions

BEAUFORT, S.C. () — The Beaufort Memorial Hospital has received two national recognitions in orthopedic care.

Blue Cross Blue Shield has selected the hospital for its Blue Distinction Center designation in spine surgery, as well as the Blue Distinction Center+ for knee and hip replacements. These accolades highlight the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality care, specialized treatment, and improved patient outcomes.

“Patients often struggle to assess healthcare quality, but this designation serves as a well-regarded seal of approval,” stated Dr. Kurt Gambla, the chief medical officer at Beaufort Memorial.

The criteria used for these distinctions also considers factors such as surgery volume, postoperative readmission and surgery complication rates.

This recognition is not a first for Beaufort Memorial. The hospital’s Joint Replacement Center has also earned advanced certification in total hip and knee replacement surgery from The Joint Commission, a prominent national healthcare accreditation organization.
