TALIAFERRO COUNTY, Ga. () – A man wanted for two homicides in Florida was taken into custody in Taliaferro County, Friday.
On Friday afternoon, the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office received reports about a person acting suspiciously on the side of the highway. The individual was described as being dressed entirely in white and kneeling with one hand in the air.
When a deputy arrived and the man provided his identification, it was revealed through a records check that he was wanted in Sumter, South Carolina, for an incident that took place earlier that day involving threatening someone with a firearm. Investigators from Sumter County additionally mentioned that he was a suspect in a homicide investigation in Penellas County, Florida.
The authorities in Pinellas County have identified this man as 37-year-old Nicholas Steven Kirchner. He is facing accusations related to the murder of his parents, 53-year-old Elizabeth Lee Kirchner and 64-year-old Steven Eric Kirchner.
Nicholas reportedly admitted to killing both of his parents, calling it a ‘righteous kill’, and told investigators he abandoned a stolen vehicle on I-20, which was later found by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
He has been transported to the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office jail to await extradition to Florida on two counts of First-Degree Murder Premeditated.
