Hilton Head Prep announces new head coaches for varsity girls, boys basketball

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. () — Hilton Head Prep announced their new head coaches for varsity girls and boys basketball Wednesday.

Johnny Campell is set to assume the role of the girls’ basketball coach. He has been involved with the Hilton Head Prep basketball program for three seasons, bringing with him experience from AAU, the University of Dayton’s Baseball Staff, and Miami Valley School.

“I’m thrilled to accept the position of Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach at Hilton Head Prep. My intention is to enhance the positive culture already in place by focusing on individual player development, resilience, determination, and aligning with the Prep values,” said Campell. “I will offer the perspective of a parent who saw his children thrive within the Prep community and as a coach who has contributed to the basketball program over the past three seasons.”

Michael Strickland was announced as the new boys coach. He has over a decade of coaching under his belt, the school say.

“Being chosen as the head boys’ basketball coach at Hilton Head Prep is truly an honor,” stated Strickland. “This program has a rich tradition, and I’m eager to expand on that legacy. I look forward to guiding these young athletes both on and off the court as we pursue excellence together. I’m grateful for this chance and excited to represent the Dolphin community with pride.”
