JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — At least 14 vehicles were targeted after a recent string of thefts from vehicles throughout Johnson City, police report.

The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) reported in a news release that several vehicles were targeted in different neighborhoods between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

  • The Haven at Knob Creek
  • Rosemont Apartments
  • Lake Ridge Community
  • The Villas at Boone Ridge

The JCPD is requesting residents in these areas with home security cameras to check their footage for any unusual activities during the specified period.

The JCPD stated that the thefts mostly involved unlocked vehicles.

“We urge all residents to lock their vehicles when not in use and refrain from leaving valuables inside, even in neighborhoods,” stated the JCPD in the release. “These basic measures can often be the most effective way to deter theft.”

Investigators believe there may be more victims in those neighborhoods who haven’t reported the thefts to authorities.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts or victims who need to file a report is asked to contact the JCPD Criminal Investigations Division at 423-434-1007 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 423-930-6535.

Confidential tips can also be submitted by texting 423JCPD and the tip to 847411 (TIP411).
