WASHINGTON – The Kennedy Center has initiated the process of eliminating references to President Donald Trump after a federal court determined his name was added to the performing arts center unlawfully.

Roma Daravi, serving as the vice president of public relations for the Kennedy Center, shared in a statement to The Associated Press that the organization is “adhering to the court’s decision while exploring all legal avenues to maintain this revitalization and acknowledge President Trump’s contributions.”

In a memo issued to staff by the Kennedy Center’s Office of General Counsel, legal advisors instructed that all email signatures, letterheads, and related documents must now refer to the institution as “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts” or simply the “Kennedy Center.”

The memo outlined that these adjustments should be fully implemented by June 12.

On May 29, a federal judge concluded that the inclusion of Trump’s name on the venue was unauthorized, also preventing the government from initiating substantial renovations that were set to begin in July.

In response, Trump announced he was stepping back from the renovation plans and was arranging to hand over control to Congress of the facility, which had been referred to as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts prior to his second term as president.
