(WJW) State troopers and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating after a small plane crashed while landing at the Sandusky County Regional Airport on Tuesday evening.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:36 p.m. local time.

Investigators said the 2021 Hatz Bantam biplane was heading southwest to land on the southern runway when the pilot’s right front landing gear reportedly collapsed.

The pilot, a 78-year-old Ohio man, wasn’t injured. Investigators said he was wearing his seatbelt harness and eye goggles at the time.
