AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Authorities from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have apprehended a man suspected of taking advantage of his 86-year-old step-grandfather.
Lamontra Medlock, 49, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which consists of two RCSO investigators, last week in St. Augustine, Florida.
Medlock was arrested on a Grand Jury Arrest Warrant on these charges:
- Exploitation and Intimidation of a Disabled Adult, Elder Person, or Resident
- Twelve counts of Felony Theft by Deception
- One count of Misdemeanor Theft by Deception
Police allege that Medlock engaged in forging checks and improperly utilizing his step-grandfather’s bank accounts and credit cards from January through July 2022.
The sheriff’s office states Medlock allegedly wrote checks to himself totaling $42,600, accumulated $6,821.13 in unauthorized credit card charges, and made over $26,000 in phone payments without the victim’s knowledge or consent.
Medlock has been transferred to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
