Officials Report 4 Saved from Blazing Sailboat Near Cape Canaveral

    Fire reported about a mile offshore

    4 rescued from burning sailboat off Cape Canaveral (Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue)

    CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue reported that four individuals aboard a flaming sailboat were successfully saved by a nearby boat on Saturday.

    Authorities stated the 61-foot vessel was fully engulfed in flames about a mile off the coast of Cape Canaveral, with all four people transferring to the nearby vessel.

    Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue further shared that these rescued individuals were transported back to land by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

    Officials said the Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the blaze.

    No other information was released.
