ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man was apprehended last week following a lengthy investigation into a string of burglaries in South Florida, the Stuart Police Department reported.
In a release, police said that the man — identified as Albert Velazquez — had been arrested in the middle of one such burglary back in January.
“When arrested, Velazquez was already a central figure in a significant, ongoing investigation,” according to the release. “Before being detained in January, Stuart Police Detectives had identified Velazquez as a suspect involved in a series of burglaries occurring in various jurisdictions throughout the state.”
Detectives revealed that their investigation connected Velazquez to burglaries in Broward County, Delray Beach, Hillsborough County, Manatee County, Palm Beach County, and Palm Beach Gardens.
As a result of the investigation, Velazquez was arrested again on Friday, June 13, in Orlando and faces the following charges:
-
Burglary of a structure — 7 counts
-
Burglary of a conveyance — 5 counts
-
Fraudulent use of personal identification information — 31 counts
Police said that Velazquez is being held on bond of $430,000, and additional charges are possible.
