PINE KNOT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A significant fire caused severe damage at a lumber yard in Pine Knot. Firefighters from five different departments, along with emergency and law enforcement personnel, worked tirelessly from late Friday night until the early hours of Saturday to control the blaze.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Oct. 11, after the fire was finally put out, the Pine Knot Fire Department reported that live embers were still smoldering underneath metal debris at the site.

Those passing Pine Knot Lumber were asked to call 911 if they felt that nearby structures were in danger.

“Our condolences to the business owners and employees for their loss,” Pine Knot fire officials wrote.

An investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
