Parkland softball preparing for Region 24 Championship

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Parkland Cobras are looking to three-peat in the Region 24 NJCAA DII Championship Game.

Parkland, ranked 24th in the nation and holding the top seed in their region, is set to compete against the victor of Lincoln Land versus Lewis & Clark in pursuit of their third consecutive Region 24 championship.

“We practice all year for moments like these, so I think we’re really thrilled,” remarked sophomore pitcher Claire Black. “It’s going to be fantastic. We definitely put in a lot of effort throughout the year for these games.”

Parkland is 35-14 on the year, sweeping both potential championship game opponents in the regular season.

“Even though we face them six times annually, it’s always full of surprises, but you just have to step up and perform your game,” commented sophomore third baseman Kailee Otto.

Lincoln Land and Lewis & Clark will play at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Parkland, with the championship game set for roughly 1:30 p.m.
