GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — According to Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison, the roof of the former Takoma Regional Hospital, currently under renovation for county office use, sustained damage during storms on Friday night.
The county acquired the building from Ballad Health in 2021 for office space purposes and has been renovating each floor to accommodate these departments:
- Floor 1: The registrar of deeds, the trustees’ office, and the county clerk
- Floor 2: Administration Office
- Floor 3: Sheriff’s Office
- Floor 4: Greene County Central Office
Morrison informed News Channel 11 that although the storm didn’t harm any interior renovation works, it did affect the structure’s roof.
Morrison noted that a metal hatch that was locked shut on the roof was blown open and nearly ripped from its hinges as a result of the storm.
He said a temporary fix has been put into place on the roof, which is the white tarp seen in the photos above, and contractors will be on scene Monday completing a permanent repair.
