Storm Team 3: Hot weekend with cooler weather returning next week

Storm Team 3 Forecast: Weekend Heatwave Followed by Cool Down Next Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Today, we’re looking at another warm and humid day, with temperatures rising slightly above the average to peak in the low 90s. The humidity will make it feel more like the upper 90s, but it’s still a fantastic day to enjoy some outdoor sunshine before the likelihood of rain increases in the next few days.

Tomorrow afternoon, we expect a cold front to pass through, bringing a possibility of isolated showers and storms. This front will settle southward for several days, leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms from midweek through the weekend. The increased cloud cover and rain chances will help high temperatures decrease back into the low to mid 80s.

This week’s rain isn’t tropical, but we are monitoring a tropical wave in the Atlantic that is moving west. By Saturday morning, its chance of developing has slightly declined to 60% over the next week. If it strengthens into a named storm, it will be called Gabrielle. A stronger system is more likely to curve northwest, whereas a weaker one would continue moving west. We’ll keep an eye on its progress.
