Champaign Park District gearing up for annual pickleball tournament

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Monday marks the last day that pickleball enthusiasts can sign up for a two-day tournament in Champaign.

The third annual Champaign Pickleball Open is scheduled for May 17-18. The event will be hosted at the Champaign Park District’s outdoor facility, situated at 2203 W. John Street.

You can sign up for the tournament here. Registration ends at 11:55 p.m. on May 5.

All players must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their games. Each team is assured at least four matches, and the four top teams in each category will move on to the bracket stage. The registration fee is $45 per participant.

The park district mentioned that the tournament is dependent on weather conditions. If no games occur and the event is canceled by the Champaign Park District due to weather, all players will be refunded.

The dates and times of matches will vary, but the schedule will be released Friday, May 8. Click here for more information about the upcoming tournament.
