UPDATE: Person shot in Macon wielded machete, drove squad car, rammed police, aimed shotgun at officers

CASEY, Ill. (WCIA) — A 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a train in Casey early Tuesday morning.

At around 1:27 a.m. on June 24, the Illinois State Police were requested by the Casey Police Department to assist in probing the death of a 33-year-old man. The incident took place at E. Main Street and S.E. 8th St. in Casey. Units from the State Police Division on Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 8 and Troop 9 were dispatched to the location.

The State Police reported that the man was hit by a train and died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this moment, according to State Police.

WCIA reached out to the Clark County Coroner’s Office for more information but did not immediately receive a response back.
