LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. () — A mile-long walk was held Saturday morning in honor of a suicide victim.

Khyla Dennis was just 13 years old when she tragically ended her own life. To honor her memory, her family established the Khyla N. Dennis Memorial Foundation, focusing on suicide awareness and prevention efforts.

In recognition of suicide prevention month, the foundation hosts an annual walk to commemorate those lost to suicide and to raise awareness about the importance of suicide prevention in the community.

Pamela Dennis is Khyla’s mother and the president of the Khyla N. Dennis Memorial Foundation, spoke on the foundation’s mission:

“We want the community to understand they’re not alone, that we’re here and deeply concerned about suicide,” shared Pamela Dennis, president of the Khyla N. Dennis Memorial Foundation. “Our goal is to spread the message about prevention and awareness because we believe strongly that prevention saves lives.”

The upcoming event by the organization will be a 5K run, intended to generate funds for the KND Foundation Scholarship. You can learn more about this event here.
