Opposition leader Peter Dutton also spoke to Weekend Today from Melbourne as polls opened this morning.

Dutton said the key issues affecting voters in Victoria were crime rates and economic management.

“I think today really is about what people believe is in our country’s best interests,” Dutton said.

“Who is best able to manage the economy, to bring the cost of living pressures down? There are just so many families who are under the pump.”

He said he had a “burning passion” for Australia.

He also used his air-time to throw a few final punches at the Labor Party.

“I believe there are many Australians who prefer to keep their voting decisions private. They might not be discussing their choices with neighbors, but when they step into the polling booth, they’ll likely decide not to support Anthony Albanese for his performance over the past three years.”
