A man faces additional charges related to domestic violence, including allegations of rape and coercive control, following an incident where a woman was reportedly held captive in a Sydney residence last year.
Authorities claim that the 34-year-old suspect, who was acquainted with the victim, restrained her within their home located on The Esplanade in Oak Flats.
According to police, between July and August of the previous year, the man subjected the woman to repeated physical abuse, involving acts such as hurling scissors and a meat tenderiser at her.
The victim required hospitalization due to injuries including a fractured eye socket and several broken ribs.
On August 6, around 1:30 PM, law enforcement officials apprehended the 34-year-old at an Oak Flats residence on The Esplanade, charging him with various offences, including kidnapping and assault.
Following further legal advice, yesterday he was charged with more offences including sexual intercourse without consent, choking, and coercive control.
He has been in custody since his first appearance in court last August and will nest appear in court today.
