Lorde appears to be gearing up for a long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand – and fans are losing it.

On Tuesday evening, observant residents of Melbourne noticed a massive digital display casting images of the New Zealand singer above the renowned Young & Jackson pub, located at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Street, one of the city’s liveliest spots.

The enigmatic visuals illuminated the night, showcasing surreal, blue-tinged clips of Lorde with the word ‘Ultrasound’ – a direct reference to her forthcoming global tour and her newest album, Virgin.

The same promo has since been spotted in Sydney, sparking a frenzy among fans who believe an official tour announcement is just hours away.

While nothing has been formally confirmed yet, Frontier Touring has hinted that all will be revealed tomorrow, July 11.

Fan accounts were quick to react online, with @lordeontour dropping three emergency emoji sirens, and another follower begging, ‘PLEASE BRING LORDE TO ADELAIDE.’

It comes after Lorde hinted that an Aussie and Kiwi leg would be added to her Ultrasound tour, despite both countries being left off the original announcement.

‘Could you imagine if I didn’t? That would be bad, that would be bad,’ she teased in a recent interview. ‘Watch this space.’

Lorde’s new album Virgin, released on June 27, has already received critical acclaim and commercial success, debuting at No. 1 in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and landing at No. 2 in the US.

The singer has also teased more music to come, revealing there are unreleased B-sides that didn’t make the final cut of Virgin.

She gave fans a taste of what to expect from the Ultrasound era with a surprise performance at Glastonbury last month – her first live appearance tied to the new record.

The tour kicks off in Texas on September 17 and will travel across the US, UK and Europe before wrapping up in Sweden on December 9.

Support acts joining Lorde on the road include Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Empress Of, Chanel Beads, Jim-E Stack and Oklou.

Just days ago, the New Zealand pop star opened up about a tough time where all she thought about was ‘weighing as little as possible’.

The singer spoke in a candid interview with Jack Saunders on Radio 1 on Monday.

She told how at the start of 2023 she was struggling mentally and wasn’t able to focus on any creative pursuits or making music.

At Glastonbury she had said on stage that she thought she’d ‘never make music again’ – a comment which Jack asked her to clarify in their interview.

The New Zealand-born star explained: ‘At the beginning of 2023 I was just not in a great way in a lot of ways and I’d never felt more distant from my creativity. I didn’t think I had anything to offer and I hadn’t had an idea in a while.

‘This was a period when I was trying to weigh as little as possible and going to sleep and thinking about food and weight and wake up thinking about food and exercise and that was creative pursuit, you know…

‘That was where it was all going and at that time I was like I really need to stop doing this because it’s blocking all my artistry.

‘Once that went away it all started to come back!’

It comes after Lorde surprised fans at her record release party in Berlin last Wednesday when she performed to a small group of lucky attendees.

The event, hosted by Universal Music, was to celebrate the launch of her new album Virgin, with fans having no idea that the musician would actually perform.

The album cover features an x-ray of her pelvis with her hip bones, belt buckle, and zipper visible and – inter-uterine device included.

It’s not entirely clear if the X-ray is of Lorde but DailyMail.com has reached out for comment to confirm.

The singer dropped the visual to her Instagram where she also announced the title of her fourth studio album and its release date as June 27.
