In an unexpected twist during his arrest, an Indiana man treated the situation with surprising levity. Hayden Cooper, aged 30, was apprehended earlier this week after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home. Despite the seriousness of the charges, Cooper posed for his mugshot with a cheeky grin and his tongue out.

Cooper now faces charges of felony residential entry, according to a report from WBIW. The incident unfolded on Wednesday when deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Cooper’s ex-girlfriend. She reported seeing Cooper flee the scene in a pickup truck distinguished by a ladder rack.

Upon receiving the report, deputies efficiently located the vehicle and executed a felony-style traffic stop, leading to Cooper’s arrest. The probable cause affidavit reveals that the victim had recognized the sound of Cooper’s truck and attempted to secure her home. However, she inadvertently left one window unlatched.

Cooper took advantage of this oversight, breaking through the window screen to gain entry into the living room. A neighbor, who witnessed the incident, confirmed hearing loud noises and observed Cooper through a window as he entered the residence.

Inside, the victim confronted Cooper, instructing him to leave. She then retreated to her bedroom for safety. The situation continued to escalate when she exited the house, with Cooper following her outside.

The victim said she told Cooper to leave and retreated into her bedroom. When she later walked outside the home, Cooper followed her out.

She told deputies that he was her ex-boyfriend, that he had never lived in the home where she lived with her 5- and 7-year-old children, and that he did not have permission to enter. She said she told him she did not want to have any further contact with him, and he threatened to release private videos of her.

Cooper demanded an attorney and refused to speak with with detectives but made a visual statement at his booking.
